After being monitored for 15 years my mitral valve prolapse condition deteriated and I now have severe mitral regurgitation. My operation is only a week away (27th November) to hopefully repair the valve and have a maze procedure. As I'm 47 I am hoping they can repair and not replace as I would need a mechanical valve. I've waited 3 months for a date since seeing my surgeon and I have been fine about it up until this week but am now feeling quite anxious about it all. I keep visiting this site to read everyone's journals and would like to thank everyone who has taken the time to blog about their recovery. I know it must be the last thing you feel like doing when tired and sore but it really has helped me and I'm sure many others who are apprehensive and waiting.
