I was diagnosed with mitral valve prolapse at 8. It really never effected me until 3 years ago when I was under a great amount of stress. My father had died suddenly, I had to leave my job and become my mom's caretaker, and move cities. It became moderate to severe and I couldn't ignore the symptoms any longer. I scheduled and had my surgery Dec. 15. My only thought with having it was to get it over with so I could go back to taking care of my mom. I didn't realize how difficult it was going to be. I'm looking for support to understand if what I'm going through is 'normal'.
