About Me

I had Cancer almost 30 years ago and went thru both chemo therapy and radiation on my chest area, and one of the possible side effects was heart disease, so I have done regular check ups since then to watch for any sign of issues. About 10 years ago, my family doctor noticed a heart mumur and we have kept an eye on it since then. In July of 2024 during a echo of the murmur, it was upgraded from minor to moderate with developing symptoms. I started seeing a cardiologist about that time and we have done a couple more echos since then to see how fast it was progressing as I was quickly feeling the symptoms get worse. September of this year he did some further tests in the cath lab and imaging and found the echo wasnt telling the whole story and the aortic valve was actually in a severe state that would explain my heightened symptoms, so he has referred me to to a surgeon to get a Aortic valve replacement. I am only 56 years old so looking at getting a mechanical valve and I get to meet with the surgeons this coming Monday, Oct 13th to see what the next steps are.
