About Me

Proactively went in for a heart check-up in 2013 without any symptoms. Discovered for 1st time I had Mitral Valve Prolapse, with what cardioligist determined was 'severe' mitral regurgitation. Two weeks out from surgery had 2nd opinion with a highly recommended 'valve expert', who reclassified my leakage as only 'moderate' and that I had a Barlow valve with leakage in late systole.(which apparently means less severe leakage). I have been on watchful waiting without any symptoms or heart changes until Nov 2017.(still no symptoms, but LV increase in size and sound of regurgitation has increased notibly. TEE Jan 5, 2018 confirmed Severe MR. Consultation Jan 23 with Dr. Smith Plano Heart Hospital to determine likelihood of repair, best approach and when within next few months to schedule surgery. Robotic Mitral valve repair scheduled March 21st.
