I was diagnosed with mitral valve prolapse (MVP) as a teen. Then they changed the criteria and I was told I didn't have it any more. In November-ish, my PCP listened to my chest and said "Why do I hear a murmur?". We talked about the MVP having never been problem. So she ordered an echo. I waited for the new year to start so I could lump together my deductibles, and saw Dr William David the first week in January. Things have moved steadily ever since. EKG, echo, stress tests, TEE...my diagnosis is severe MVP with regurgitation and the surgery date is soon.
