My ascending aortic aneurysm was discovered in mid-August 2016 when I had a follow-up MRI for my benign liver lesions. The aneurysm was measured at 4.4 CM at that time. To educate myself, I started searching the Internet for information about my condition and potential treatments. I also started setting up appointments with the best cardiac surgeons and cardiologists I can find in my area. Thanks to patients testimonies in heart-valve-surgery.com, especially the video with Christine Pittelli and Pedro Mejias, I began to seek consultation from Dr. Allan Stewart. When I called his office, Ms. Debra Segreti - his office manager, told me to get another CTA scan and Echocardiogram done. So, I did. But, by this time, my aneurysm has grown to 5.0 CM and the Echocardiogram reported I have “focally calcified trileaflet aortic valve with normal motion and mild aortic regurgitation”. I had my consultation appointment with Dr. Stewart on 9/26/16. During the office visit, Dr. Stewart was frank, direct and very confident on the mini-sternotomy procedure he would be performing on me. He also told me, he should be able to repair my aortic valve. I walked away from that visit fully convinced that Dr. Stewart is the right surgeon for me. The surgery date is now set for 12/6/16 for pre-op tests and 12/7/16 for the actual surgery. I am 68 years old.
