Hope you are doing well. Have you been recommended for surgery or are you able to wait and watch your aneurysm and valve function?

Its wait and watch currently. Echo every 6 months. In Oct. 2022 echo, aneurysm was 4.6cm, BAV was moderate regurgitation. Next echo is in Apr 2023.

When i got to echo every 6 months i finally said, enough already. Its not going to heal itself, lets talk surgery.

Yes. Instead of heart, its more of mind game. One has to make up the mind and convince yourself for the surgery. We are lucky that successful surgery options are available in today's world and surgery success is in high 90s.

Yes, we are. I waited as long as I could on recommendation of a surgeon and my cardiologist. The less surgeries needed the better. I was fortunate to be asymptomatic previous to reaching my time for surgery but waiting also requires some mind calming. Hope your next echo has you... Read more.

Thanks Grace. I am 50 yrs old with office job. So I try take my mind away from my heart if possible. All the best with your recovery. Things will get better with time. Michigan and Ohio weather are not very different but I am waiting for summer to go... Read more.

Welcome to this site. Sounds like you are in the â€œwatch and waitâ€ phase. You might want to investigate aortic valve repair if that that is a possibility for you. Not every surgeon does those, but it is worth checking into.

Yes Marie, when time comes, I plan to discuss with my surgeon with following priorities, (1) Valve repair (2) Ross procedure (3) replace with Edwards Inspiris Resilia valve which has longer life and TAVAR can be performed next time with valve in valve.
