Thanks for answering question I posted about when to do surgery. What type of valve did you end up getting mechanical or tissue?

Hi, I went for mechanical the thought of one and done was the main reason. So far I'm very happy with that decision. I know it means warfarin for life but after heart surgery you usually end up on medication anyway and if taking these means I'm at lower risk... Read more.

Thanks so much for information. I feel good which is why I'm wondering when I should do this. Watching echos to make sure it is not getting worse, but it is considered severe. Was it hard to get used to the noise of the mechanical valve?

No, I only heard it for a couple of weeks and then it settled down and I never hear it now. even in bed lying on my side. The nurse asked me if the clicking bothered me , I said no if it stops it will bother me !!! For... Read more.
