No, I did not have a valve sparing procedure. My valve was bicuspid, and the surgeon believed it was worth replacing it while I had the aneurysm fixed. I initially thought I might have a valve sparing procedure, but 2 surgeons thought otherwise. I think it is a good option... Read more.

Hi Deepak. I noticed the same thing with my heart after my first OHS in 2010 & my surgeon explained it much the same as Marie has in her post to your guestbook. It either gets better or I just adjusted to the way it is as it became less... Read more.

Yes. I felt the same stronger heartbeat since my surgery, as have many people on this website. If I take a deep breath in, I can feel more heartbeat even stronger. If I breathe very shallow, my heartbeat is not as noticeable. I think it is due to the fact... Read more.
Hi Marie , thanks for your response. It’s reassuring . Rob , a member of this forum also replied similar to yours. You have explained the heart beat situation spot on. However When we talk about the pericardium sac , does it reform with time ?
I think it does, but I am not positive. I still notice the strong heartbeats with a deep breath even now at 2 1/2 years past my surgery. We may just get more used to the new feeling.
