Mitral Valve Disease Awareness Week!
The statistics are alarming. Mitral valve disease is the most common valvular defect impacting up to 1.8% of the population. Sadly, the mortality rate for patients with severe mitral valve disease who do not get treatment is 20% after one year and 50% after five years. Lastly, only 15% of patients get treatment.
For these reasons... HeartValveSurgery.com is teaming up with the Smidt Heart Institute at Cedars-Sinai and Penn Medicine, University of Pennsylvania Health System, to launch "Mitral Valve Disease Awareness Week", a global initiative to raise awareness to the health risks and the treatment advantages of mitral valve disease.
