"I was diagnosed with an enlarging aortic aneurysm in October 2024 through my monitoring echocardiogram. I have been having them to monitor my slight regurgitation of my aortic valve from a previous open heart surgery decades earlier.
After doing my own research mostly on HeartValveSurgery.com, I became familiar with Dr. Malaisrie. Being a former Chicagoan, now living in North Carolina, Dr. Malaisrie was my second opinion about my aortic aneurysm. I was very impressed with my virtual consultation with him. He was exactly who I thought he was after seeing several videos of him at HeartValveSurgery.com.
After he assured me he could repair my bicuspid valve I knew he was the surgeon for the job. My local surgeon wanted to replace my valve. In late March of 2025, I had my valve sparing aortic root replacement surgery (David procedure) at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago. Everything went great!
It was the best decision to fly back to Chicago to have this surgery. The whole experience from the beginning to the end was fantastic. Everyone involved in my care from before surgery, during and after were great! I cannot say enough good things about the people involved in my care.
If you have a complicated heart issue and need surgery, I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Malaisrie and his staff over at Northwestern Medicine. Thank you again Dr. Malaisrie, your staff, and every hospital personnel (doctors, nurses, nurses assistants, technicians, PT's,OT's and the hospital maintenance) who took care of me with kindness, compassion and great skill!!!"
"When I consulted with Dr. Malaisrie in August of 2024, I then knew he would be my surgeon! He was very informative and extremely knowledgeable with the different types of valve replacements, which made me feel confident and comfortable putting my life in his hands.
On October 2nd, 2024, Dr. Malaisrie gave me a new lease on life! I feel great today with my new valve and would highly recommend him to anyone needing heart surgery. Great surgeon and great hospital, not to mention the wonderful staff that worked along side him and post-op care as well."
