"My surgery was elective (we had a month's notice)and went smoothly. The dr was pleasant, had good credentials and visited me daily in the hospital, and once in his office a month later. My husband and I had read your book thoroughly and knew what to expect, so I guess we were well informed and didn't require as much education as some others. We followed his orders. I wish I had known how much the coumadin would affect my life. Everyone said not a big deal, but I am not so sure. But that is not the surgeon's fault, I made the decision for the mechanical valve."
