"Dr. Mavroidis was very willing to discuss any question. He discussed the Maze procedure which he would also be performing to stop my a-fib. We also discussed how he would try to make a repair but, if necessary, I would get a mechanical or organic valve replacement and gave me enough info to decide which I wanted.
Met the entire team in the pre-surgery room prior to the surgery. He was pleased that I was informed because I had read Adam's book and he confirmed the information.
The hospital had me watch a video about the surgery and after-care. Then I met the cardiac chief nurse who gave me a tour of the cardiac ICU and introduced me to the different professionals I would be seeing."
