"This was to be a routine, second surgical opinion for a surgery that was already scheduled with another surgeon at another hospital. I had thought I was well prepared and informed. Dr Sciortino spent a considerable amount of time explaining this procedure. The pros and the cons. I felt an immediate trust in his ability to take good care of me. I did not know that I actually had very little information about the procedure I was about to undergo on my heart until he discussed it with me. He was present often following the surgery and attended to all of my needs and questions. I have had a lot of physical issues and limitations with chronic illnesses. He made sure, by ordering extra and special pre-op testing, based on that appointment, that there would be no surprise issues during surgery. Those test revealed issues not previously known that could have presented some serious problems in my future that can now be addressed. I am very grateful that I went for a second opinion."
