Dr. Christopher LaMendola, Heart Surgeon
Dr. Christopher LaMendola
Heart Surgeon
"I first met Dr. LaMendola in the hospital after my heart catheterization. I was scared at the diagnosis of severe stenosis & needing open heart surgery. Even the phrase open heart surgery was scary. Dr. LaMendola introduced himself and explained that the surgery would be minimally invasive, requiring just a small incision & briefly explained what he would do. He immediately calmed my fears & a few days later I met with him in his office. He examined me and then we spoke at length about what would be happening next. He answered all my questions and I never felt rushed. We spoke for quite a while & he told me to call if I had additional questions. I felt calm when I left his office. His confidence was very reassuring. The day of the surgery, he spoke to me before the surgery also. The next morning, after I woke up in a room on the Cardiac wing, his smiling face was the first I saw. He told me all went well & within 3 days I was home and on the road to recovery! I could not have been more pleased with the results! Highly recommend Dr. Christopher LaMendola."
"I had my Aortic Valve replaced. Dr. LaMendola headed up the Heart Center at St. Frances Hospital, then created a new Heart Center at Good Samaritan in West Islip, NY with detailed training for his hospital staff. He helped pioneer off-pump coronary bypass surgery and minimally invasive valve surgery and has been recognized as one of New York Magazine's "Best Doctors;" one of America's "Top Surgeons" by the Consumer's Research Council of America. The higher level of care by him and all the hospital staff is quite noticeable and provides a level of comfort which you can't find in a hospital not providing that kind of specialized care."
