Dr. Austin Ward, Heart Surgeon
Dr. Austin Ward
Heart Surgeon
"Dr. Ward is the best! He fixed my mitral valve prolapse. He was very patient each time he came into my room and let me and my family ask the questions we had. He has a great beside manner. I would highly recommend to anyone needing heart surgery. I hope Western Baptist Hospital knows how lucky they are to have such a good heart surgeon. My family and I feel blessed that he was there when we needed him."
"Dr. Ward is one of the nicest surgeons I have dealt with and I am 69. This was my second valve replacement and by far the easiest and smoothest. He was A rock star!"
"Dr. Ward is an excellent surgeon and very knowledgeable and talented. He is trained in all of latest procedures and is very caring. His credentials are beyond reproach."
"Dr. Ward completed all repairs which he stated. Would highly recommended him. A++++."
"Dr. Ward was amazing. He saved my husband's life."
"Dr. Ward is a great surgeon. Explains things well. Very nice office staff and nurses. Baptist was a great experience. Had the minimally-invasive procedure."
"Dr. Ward is a good surgeon."
"Met with Dr. Ward after having a heart cath. He explained what was happening and that I had (6) blockages that were going to require (5) bypasses. He explained to me and my family in detail what needed to be done. During and after the surgery they kept my family informed. I was in the hospital for 7 days and each day Dr. Ward came by to see me asking how I was doing and if there was anything that he could do for me.
Since I left the hospital, I have had NO pain from the incision or the sternum where they had to split it. Overall, since I have been released from the hospital, I have been extremely pleased with my progress. I have not had any pain medication (except for Tylenol) since my release and it has been (7) weeks since my surgery. I am extremely pleased with Dr. Ward and his staff and would highly recommend them to anyone in the Paducah, Kentucky area."
"Dr. Ward is a fantastic doctor. Excellent bedside manner. Very easy to talk to. Explains medical terms well. I would recommend him to anyone."
"Excellent surgeon! Great bedside manners. Excellent results! The best surgeon I have ever had!"
"Dr. Ward was excellent throughout my experience.
Prior to the surgery, he fully explained what was going to occur, including showing the CAT scan results showing the damaged aortic artery. My surgery, lasting almost 6 hours was successful and he had to also remove calcification around the artery . He was very attentive following surgery. I saw him and his associate Kelly Patterson, ARNP, every day and was kept well informed about my progress.
I would recommend Dr. Ward to anyone considering heart valve surgery."
"Dr. Ward repaired my aortic aneurysm and replaced my aortic valve. He had awesome bedside manner, was very clear when explaining the surgery to my wife and I before surgery. During surgery, he kept my family updated with detail. After surgery, the care was wonderful also."
"If a doctor can be enjoyed, I enjoyed every interaction with Dr. Ward. Bedside manner was great and surgery results are very commendable. Three years later and I feel great. I feel the doctor is pleased with results as well which means a lot too. Thanks Dr. Ward."
"It's very important to me that I started three miles down the road from my house, with a Baptist Health facility, and then ended with a Baptist Health surgeon fixing it. If I had traveled to another hospital, I don't believe I would have gotten near the service that I've gotten here."
"Dr. Ward gave me the confidence to have open heart surgery. He explained everything about the surgery. After the surgery I felt so much better. A feeling that I hadn't had in years. Without his skill, I probably would be either dead or confined to my bed. The after-visits with Dr. Ward were pleasant and reassuring. I owe him my new life."
