In 2016, Baylor Scott & White The Heart Hospital - Plano's relentless focus on quality again earned national recognition. For the first time, we entered the U.S. News & World Reports ranking for Cardiology & Heart Surgery in the No. 18 position and we received "High Performing" ratings for aortic valve surgery, heart bypass surgery, lung cancer surgery, heart failure and abdominal aortic aneurysm repair.

From The Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS), we received the highest rating — three stars which is a highly coveted rating — awarded by the STS for outstanding surgical quality in all three surgical categories measured by the STS (Footnote 1): Coronary artery bypass graft surgery (CABG), aortic valve replacement surgery (AVR), and aortic valve replacement surgery + coronary artery bypass graft surgery (AVR + CABG).

Based on volume, Baylor Scott & White The Heart Hospital - Plano is the sixth (Footnote 2) largest cardiac surgery specialty center in the United States today and fifth (Footnote 3) in the nation for heart valve surgery.

Baylor Scott & White The Heart Hospital - Plano’s team approach to comprehensive care is most evident in its management of heart valve disease – a diagnosis that about 5 million Americans receive annually. Through our weekly valve clinics held at the outpatient Center for Advanced Cardiovascular Care, in a single day, our guests receive a full evaluation and treatment plan.

This includes imaging studies, lab work, as well as all the other testing and consultations with our heart team necessary to schedule a procedure if recommended. Guests visiting our dedicated aortic and mitral valve clinics have their cases simultaneously reviewed by multiple cardiovascular specialists on the THHBP medical staff, including:

• Cardiovascular surgeons

• Interventional cardiologists

• Noninvasive cardiologists

• Cardiac imaging specialists
